Engineering Apprentice Flourishing

Engineering Apprentice Flourishing

Jamie McLachlan who is undertaking his Engineering Apprenticeship at Taupo Manufacturing Engineers Ltd said he is thoroughly enjoying his work and expanding his skill set daily.

Former student of Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, Jamie said he had a passion for engineering and it was his favourite subject all through college. After gaining hands on experience at TME as part of the school gateway programme he knew he wanted to continue to expand those skills and further his knowledge in the engineering field.

Jamie said the teachers at Taupō-nui-a-Tia College helped him greatly through the first stages of moving onto an apprenticeship and “made the journey a hell of a lot easier and less stressful.”

At TME everyone is helpful and keen to teach me everything they can and he feels lucky to be part of such a supportive working environment.

Taupo Pathways certainly appreciates Grant and his team for all the support and commitment they have shown to our local youth. Taupo Manufacturing Engineers have also recently employed another young apprentice who completed our Taupo Pathways Licence to Work Programme. Keeping it home grown and local!
