What is the Licence to Work – In School programme all about?

The Licence to Work programme is available at both Taupo-nui-a-Tia College and Tauhara College. It’s like a subject that you can choose to do.

The thought of leaving school and finding a job can be pretty scary. We’re here to guide you through the whole process.

The Licence to Work (LTW) programme has been developed to help you gain all the skills you need to not only get a job but keep a job. It’s about removing all the barriers between you and employment.

What are some of those barriers:

Not knowing what you want to do: we can walk you through the careers process
Not knowing how to get there: we make an action plan with everyone
Lack of confidence: we are here to empower you
Not knowing any employers: we have a database of over 600 employers
Not knowing what the workplace expects of you: that’s all about employability which is our specialty!
Drivers Licence: yes we even help with that

The Licence to Work programme is run in a variety of places around the country, employers are now recognising the benefits. They don’t have time to teach you the Employability Skills they want you to have these already. Work experience is part of the programme and gives you the chance to see if you like the job and gives the employer the opportunity to see if you have those Employability Skills. Impress the employer and turn it into paid employment.
